If you have been watching animes for some time, you’d probably know of a certain red ball that contains a fuzzy critter 50 times its size. Well, Bakugan Battle Brawlers are reminiscent of the said concept. Only, instead of a cute critter with the eyes of a puppy, a metal warrior springs out of a magnetic sphere, when the said object is thrown into a gate card. The first part of the series was aired in 2007 and was received warmly by the viewing public and there is an ongoing airing of the 2nd season.
Set in the parallel world Vestroia, the series merged the whole a monster-summoning concept with a mecha concept, created a myriad of interesting characters (there are at least five protagonists) and wove a plot about power-hungry metal warriors and bi-polar grandfathers. The main protagonist is Dan Kuso, a brash 12-year old who teamed up with a Bakugan and made his way through various ‘brawls’ in order to learn more about Vestroia and the evil plans of Hal-G, the one whose maneuverings opened the gate to the parallel world; the Vexos, the bane of the Vestroia and Naga, the power-hungry Bakugan.
With the help of friends like Runo, a skilled tomboy, Marucho Marukuro, a walking encyclopedia, Julie Makimoto, the eternal optimist and Shun Kazami, a top-notch brawler, the task shouldn’t be too hard.
