The Erector set 10, also called the Classic Period No. 10 Erector Set, is the greatest set that the A.C. Gilbert Company has manufactured. Besides being the greatest, it is also the largest and heaviest set.

It was first introduced in 1920 and at that time it only contained 1200 plus parts. It was housed in a small wooden tray and it weighed 30 pounds. This 1st version lasted unchanged for 4 years. From 1923 to 1925, more and more parts were constantly added and in 1926, Mr. Gilbert (the inventor of the toy) decided to redesign the whole set. After the redesign, No. 10 Erector Sets contained more than 2500 parts and when fully packaged would weigh at about 70 pounds.

The 1931-1932 version of the No. 10 Erector Set was considered the ultimate one yet. It contained more than 5000 parts and weighed in at 150 pounds. It was such a great set, it contained 2 large manuals that give instructions to creating more than 500 different models.

Erector Sets are fun for kids to play with.
