Nick Fury (Nicholas Joseph Fury) was first introduced in the Marvel comics in 1963. He was said to be a veteran war hero (World War II). After the war, he was gravely injured by a land mine somewhere in France and was treated by Berthold Sternberg. Without him knowing, he was subsequently a test subject for an infinity formula. This concoction apparently had the ability to retard his aging process. However, he initially needed to get annual dosages otherwise; he will immediately age and die.
This character has been in collaboration with a number of other heroes such as the Fantastic 4, Spiderman and Iron Man among others. He is well endowed in combat – with or without weapons. He may often be perceived to be a “super spy” just like that of James Bond.
Nick Fury has received its own set of action figures that has been collected from years ago to the present days. The vast majority of these action figures bear his signature eye patch regardless of the macho fighting stance that he has. Though he was generally perceived to be Caucasian, he was presented as an African-American in the creation and release of the Ultimate Nick Fury.
