Pattern blocks are put together much like how you do the same for the tiles in your bathroom or kitchen. This is called tiling. They are also flat but they have different geometric shapes. When these shapes are put together, they form an altogether different shape. And when separated, it decomposes into many geometric shards.
This is often used by elementary students in their geometry class. Logic and critical thinking are learned by these children when they are tiling and observing symmetry and asymmetry in these pattern blocks. Aside from learning, they also have fun when they are working with pattern blocks. It is great group activity for elementary students. Also, pattern blocks are popularly used for shape games.
When you form a shape using these tiles or pattern blocks, the swirl of colors and shapes are simply awesome and it is as if you are looking inside a kaleidoscope. This is something in geometry class that students really enjoy.
