Resident Evil is a science fiction action horror adventure movie released in 2002. It was patterned from the video game with the same title and even borrowed the same elements to make the film more familiar to the viewers. The movie starred Mila Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez, and revolved around the attempt to escape the underground facility that is filled with zombies.
In the tradition of older zombie filled films, Resident Evil was made to appear to have a more scientific approach to the monster phenomenon as opposed to being purely supernatural. As far as its performance in the box office is concerned, it garnered a total of $102 million all over the world. The two sequels of this movie also did very well in the big screen, released in 2004 and 2007 respectively. The last movie instalment of the trilogy earned as much as $150 million in the United States alone.
