The idea behind the Stikfas toy is simple yet very entertaining. It is so simple and anyone who has seen or has heard of Stikfas toys would probably say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Basically, Stikfas toys are 8cm tall model assembly figures. This means that you build/assemble them to form a “structure”. Think of it like building a stick figure. What is so amazing about these toys is the customizable aspect of it. Once they get assembled you can interchange body parts and stickers to make each Stikfas figure unique to your own taste.
The concept started in 2001 as collaboration with the video game publisher Electronic Arts. Because of the overwhelming response to the action figure, in 2002 Stikfas was licensed to the toy company Hasbro, makers of popular toy brands such as My Little Pony and G.I. Joe.
Since then the Stikfas line gained significant market recognition thus production was increased as well. During this time, it was awarded the “Best Original Concept” by ToyFare magazine and came in second in the “Most Fun and Innovative Toy” by Toyshop magazine. This was a significant award for the toy line because in 2002 the toy market was dominated by high-tech, electronic toys.
