Whiplash first came out on Marvel Comics’ Tales of Suspense # 97 in 1968. He was known as Mark Scarlotti who was described to be one of the most intelligent and promising men who held a job at Stark industries. After falling in to the influences of the wrong crowd, he became a weapon’s developer and a villain known as Whiplash. After he was defeated by Iron Man, he vowed vengeance in a renewed image of “Backlash.”
It was not soon after that Backlash was defeated yet again and dreamt of turning over a new leaf. With the kind of criminal record that he had and the fact that practically everyone hated him, it was inevitable that he went back to his old ways as Whiplash.
Even villains have action figures and with this, you can find Whiplash and Backlash action figures in stores. Some of these, especially those that were created years ago would likely cost more. However, with the comeback of this character in a recent film, it is now widely available once again. Some of these are given the original image to which the character was drawn in the Marvel comics while others are patterned to the actor who portrayed the character in the movie.
